Britney in Hip Hop and R&B
Y'all better praise Britney her hip hop soul
- Britney was signed to Boyz II Men's Stonecreek label before it folded. While there she worked on songs with Vivian Green
- The first song Britney recorded was a cover of an unreleased Toni Braxton song
- Britney's often mentioned Otis Redding, Janet Jackson, Prince and Whitney Houston as her main influences
- Britney sang Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing" and two other Whitney songs when she auditioned for Jive Records. She was signed on the spot based on her voice alone
- Early non-biased reviews of Britney's debut album said her natural voice she used in her early career "sounds so soulful and Whitney-assured it's downright scary"

I knew britney sang that toni braxton song and praised numerous black artists. That's why I don't see her as a culture vulture or cultural appropriator like some say

The production on the entire MBDTF bar a few songs would've been perfect for Britney. The Queen knows how to ride a beat better than most of the girls in the industry with or without studio magic.
