Faulty batteries aren't entirely uncommon, so maybe that was it? But depending on the phone, you can dramatically play around with battery life (especially Android) if you get like a battery saver/CPU Tuner app or disable LTE/WiFi/Bluetooth/screen brightness, etc. Unfortunately, superphones don't tend to come with super batteries - that's why the screen size keeps getting larger, it can accommodate a physically larger battery. Battery tech needs improvements...
My battery life was horrible the first week.... it seems like with the Nokia Lumia 920 as weeks go by the power cycling stretches out the battery or something. I have WiFi, 3G, automatic screen brightness and sunlight readability turned on at all times and I get a good two days with moderate use. Here are random screenshots of my battery life (
not from the same day, the second one was from a few weeks ago, the first one was taken yesterday).
