I think straight men assume because someone is gay that they are going to hit on them or want them sexually.

I know plenty of straight men who have gay family members and they accept it fine but once another gay male is in their presence who is not related to them then they freak out.

Because men kinda need to impress women in a relationship, so people thinking they are gay (accepting homosexuality) would make them less masculine. Women don't have to worry about that.
