Hip as in cool and not too try hardish. Where the artist sounds natural and laid back on the track. A lot of times the feel and rhythm of the song are easy to grab.

Examples:
Amy Winehouse - Moody's Mood for Love, Some Unholy War, Me and Mr. Jones
Aretha Franklin - Soul Serenade
Xtina - I Got Trouble
Janis Joplin - Half Moon
Rihanna - Man Down
Even Lana Del Rey - Cola!
