So yeah I was at Church yesterday. My pastor mentioned what happened on Wednesday with the Supreme Court and how upset he was with their decision. And people of the Church called him up that same day asking him "what are we going to do" like they're going to fight or something. Really now?

The Church knows that every sin is equal in God's eyes. They also know that we all sin. If they think being gay is a sin, what about all the cheaters, murderers, prostitutes, etc.? They have the right to marry, don't they? But if you are attracted to the same sex, that all of a sudden means you should be treated as second class citizens? I just can't

I came out to my pastor when I was 18 and left the church (even though he wanted me to stay and told me he loved me no matter what).

Don't worry, one day you won't have to go anymore (unless you want to).

It doesn't surprise me, a lot of churches are messy. That's why I only really go at Christmas with the family. If your faith is important to you, maybe search around for a more accepting church

Yea I'll be out of the house and off to college in 2 years. I was okay with the Church before, they're nice people and all, but this Sunday wasn't the same.

The last time that I was on Church I almost fell and my foot hurt for like a day, God doesn't want me in his home and I'm never coming back

I think it's the idea that they thought they could control things by not allowing gays and lesbians to marry. The passing of it made them see that we're in a time now when the majority is beginning to be more accepting. A lot of the leaders in these churches grew up in a different time, a time where there was less acceptance of a lot of things they arent familiar with being in the minority.

Textbook example of how going to church doesn't make you good people, or good Christians.

Fortunately, they're fighting a losing battle. They can try to delay equality, but they can't stop it.

I don't understand why people try to make marriage about religion. If that's the case, why can 2 athiests get married? If its supposed to be separation of church and state and people want to deny marriage to same sex couples for religion based motivations, why does marriage have both state and federally recognized perks? Your religion or beliefs shouldn't have precedent over the rights of others!

And that's another of the issues I have with church other than the fact that it BORES me to death and I have to wear dress clothes (which I want to light on fire and BURN really badly).

Something similar happened to me at my Catholic church except nobody responded.

It was like 100 degrees ( which I am still mad about because they have working ACs ) at church and the priest spent like 30 minutes citing fake sources to "prove" that gay marriage was the downfall of social order and the children produced by these marriages would turn out "all wrong."

He looked expectantly at us , but was met with silence. It's not one of those lively churches where everyone sings loudly and dances so I don't know why he expected everyone to yell that they agree.

There was a hot guy in front of me so I had a nice view at least.
