Official threads are made to discuss news, music, and (sadly) celebrity gossip about the artist. It would be pointless to have two threads with the same purpose just to have one with positive comments and one with negative comments. If you really hate that artist so much that you have to dedicate time out of your daily life to complain about them, it seems like it would be more blog material than anything.

I do agree with your sentiment, honestly. If it's an OFFICIAL thread, people should be allowed to speak their mind about that artist, good or bad. Relegating it to blog material just makes it seem so much more insignificant than, say, tons of posts saying "________ is GOD!" or something along those lines. And that's not right at all, it should be an equal shake.

I was not saying that they should not be able to speak their mind. I was just saying that it is pointless to purposely go into the thread each time to only bash the artist without even relating to what the current topic of the thread is. The only reason I agreed with having a blog instead of a separate thread was so overall feelings could be covered in the blog but if they cannot take the time to make an actual judgment on the topic at hand in an official thread, who says that they will do so in another thread specifically made for those who dislike that artist?
Also, I am not really trying to go against you, Mikal. Heck, I was just inserting my opinion because I usually do not, haha. For all you know, the other moderators do agree with you. I was just stating what I thought, and I was definitely not trying to win anything

I do not like Flowers latest song, so it is alright if I go into the Flowers thread to provide my opinion and/or critique. However, if all I do is put down the users in the Flowers thread for liking Flowers and say that Flowers stinks, then I might as well make a blog about it.

Tambourine/Malvatar/Aerometis's only purpose in the Britney thread, let me resay that, Official thread was to BASH her. That was their sole purpose of entering that thread. We don't care if a non-fan comes in and says their part of the story, but it goes to far when the same person comes in their every 5 minutes to say the same thing pretty much just to hate on her.

As fans, we don't want to see that in the Official thread. Not everyone likes the same artist, which I understand. But why go into a thread you don't like? I would never enter a slipknot official thread if we had one. I'd stay far away from it, even if I do hate that group (in a way). If Aerometis came in and said his opinion, not solely to bash her, I probably wouldn't care. But what's the point of entering a thread when you aren't a fan? Like seriously...it makes it look bad. Whether it's good or bad.

Plus, it causes fights. Do we really need that? We have the NHB...we don't need fighting in the Official threads. I remember once being gone to work for like 9 hours and I came home to 3 or 4 pages of nonsense fighting between stans and haters. It was a boring read. It just ruined the thread. Enough said.

I agree with this post. I wouldn't really care if someone came into the thread and said they didn't like it. But when it's the same people (for instance) Britney Spears and Rokr enters it, it's just pointless. No matter what Britney does, Rokr will never be pleased. So it's pointless for Rokr to enter it and post about her. Get what I mean?

Plus, being a fan of something but not liking something they do is different from someone posting about someone when they aren't even a fan

Was I referring to the trolls? No, of course not. I was referring to people such as yours truly who might have an opinion and wish to speak it. If there's an official thread for the artist I want to talk about, I want to post it there, not have it be kept in my blog, which, to be frank, would not fit in at all with what I actually talk about there.

I should be allowed to speak my mind wherever I want to speak it, so long as it's not NHB material. That's all I'm saying.

Yes, I definitely agree with that! I may not like Grass, a random artist I made up, but I want to be able to go to the Official Grass Thread and talk about it. However, it seems that is not the issue these people are bringing up, they were just talking about "trolls". I think we all agree about that.

lmao. Ryan, you're not getting it. A lot of people simply bash an artist with no real reasoning behind it, and that is what we all want to get rid of. Constructive criticism is fine, duh, but you know damn well several ATRLers don't know the first thing about that.
