Spotify is too confusing and pointless to me. Unless I AM doing it wrong. But either way you should still do your part as a fan and buy the latest music available.
But seriously who spends $50 a month on discographies I barely break $10. Barely
EDIT: I'm not counting times when I have iTunes cards
I buy everything digitally and a lot physically; I like the thought that I'm helping to support the industry and the artists I like. Plus I feel like you can do more with the music if you buy rather than stream - new covers, equalizers, hell, even remixes if you really want. With streaming you are limited to just that track you are accessing, along with everything tied to it like the artwork, title, album, etc.
Streaming is hugely convenient, but it won't ever replace buying music, at least not for me. I like supporting artists that I feel are deserving of it, not to mention actually owning your music means you get to keep it for as long as you'd like. If you leave Spotify or Google Music, you also have to leave behind all the music you acquired with them. Besides, I like having a physical product in my hands.
I feel bad now when I don't buy the cd, I make sure its the physical because I like actually owning it and being able to hold it rather than digital albums
I have the same greedy feelings too, so I don't want to give up on buying music yet.. but spotify makes it so hard
As a music lover supporting artists is the best thing you can do. its really cool when you see smaller artists actually become successful because people took the time to buy their music.
I don't understand what people see about digital music (or any media, for that matter). I've always purchased physical music and still continue to do so.
Spotify is everything tho. So much music and it's just a tap away. However, I still buy physical albums tho. Like I'll go to F.Y.E and they'll have a clearance bin with old albums and I'll pick a few. I still support all of my favorite artists though.
I still try to buy all of my music physically so I guess this doesn't really concern me. At the crux of the matter, it's probably mainly out of greed (I want to get my hands on and permanently own everything I like ), but I also do it because I enjoy feeling like I've done my part as a fan.
Spotify sounds interesting though. I still haven't checked it out properly but maybe I should.
Basically. I like having the CD in my hands, opening it, and popping in that CD in the car. It's just a feeling that I enjoy and can't get out of just listening to the album on Spotify. It's not the same thing! So I take pride in my CD collection.
