Convenience, portabilitiy and sex appeal, or just general performance?

I have one and it's amazing.

Macbook Pro. I've had mine since 2009 and it runs okay, for the most part. I do want a new one though. Air is way too unstable.

I have an Air. It's really convient if you just plan on using it for school and to surf the net. I'd prefer to have a pro though. I'm constantly having to delete music from my iTunes library to preserve space and I just bought photoshop but can't install it because I don't have enough space.

The Air. It's just an outstanding laptop and has more than enough power for almost all users.

I have a Pro w/ Retina Display, and I wouldn't buy one again or recommend one to anyone because the Air exists. I love mine, but it provides way too much power that I don't need, even as a software developer. Maybe for graphic designers and gamers?

The MB Pro. The other is a glorified netbook.

The Air is really nice but it lacks important features to make it a good laptop to use both on the go and at home.

Both are overpriced trash but I will side on Pro.

Hmm, it depends on whether you specifically want a 13" or if you want it because it's cheaper. If you specifically want a 13", I would wait for the Haswell refresh probably coming later this summer. It won't be a major announcement but probably just a quiet upgrade to Intel's new processors. The performance boost won't be too drastic but you can get up to 50% better battery life with Haswell processors. Also don't forget that you can get $200 off with the student discount (even if you're not a student you can use it anyway, they don't actually verify anything).

If price is the only limiting factor, I would wait until the Haswell refresh is out and buy a new, current gen 15" model. You can already get the new base 15" model for $1,800 on eBay even though it's $2,200 from Apple, and after the refresh it'll be even cheaper. With the 15" you get quad core i7, bigger screen, dedicated graphics, etc. It really is worth the extra couple hundred.

Go here and type in your school's name, if you go to college. If not just pick a local one. It'll then enter you into the education store where you can go to the RMBP page. It turns out the 13" only get a $100 discount though.

Another option is getting a refurbished one. Apple's refurbs are basically the same thing as brand new and go through rigorous testing. You can get the base 256GB 13" for $1,439. But it wouldn't have Haswell if that's something you want to wait for.

Pro is only more useful than Air when you're either a graphic designer or an architect/engineer. Air is for students of other majors/interests: like me. It really depends on your usage. My new Air is arriving in 3 days & I cannot wait for it!

Pro. Air is more of a deskwork notebook, not suitable for more complex work like coding and imagery processing. For me I do a lot of video editing, graphic design and coding work on my notebook. So Pro is def the best choice.

I do editing work too, so Pro was the obvious choice.

Only downside is how heavy it is to carry in my computer bag
