BLURRED LINES
FT. T.I. & PHARRELL Robin Thicke
past week: 6 | peak: 1 | weeks: 2
Robin Thicke claims the #1 spot this week, after the first hot summer days over here made me want to listen to the song non-stop. Previous top artist Miley drops to #4, an acceptable decline as I'm still not tired of the tune. Other songs falling include Taylor Swift as well as her duet partner, Ed Sheeran, whose mellow track didn't get as many spins after the initial obsession with his newly discovered album has worn off.
On the rise are Sleeping With Sirens, their collab with MGK still being able to get stuck in my head for hours a couple of weeks after its release. For the first time ever, a German artist enters my countdown: indie rock band Sportfreunde Stiller debut at #3. I have no idea how popular they are outside of German-speaking countries, so if any of you have ever heard of them, please let me know! Also, feel free to check out the song, I'd be really interested to hear your thoughts on it since it's in German.
Other debuts include HAIM, whose first album I am highly anticipating, and Jack White's side project The Dead Weather, the alternative rock supergroup he created with members of The Kills, Queens Of The Stone Age and The Raconteurs. I used to listen to them a lot back in 2009 when they first came out, and this week I suddenly felt nostalgic for them. Paramore also make their first appearance after I went to see them on Thursday and was thoroughly impressed by their live performance.
Tune in next week to find out if Robin Thicke can cling onto the top spot, and if another band I'm seeing on Monday will get closer to the top 10 (can you guess who it is?)!
You remember I told you I love some Unheilig songs? I just checked Applaus, Applaus and I like it already. I'm sure it will grow on me if I keep listening. Sounds like a grower and I love the sound.
The Dead Weather Why did I not know of this supergroup I love Jack White, QOTSA and The Kills Listening to the song right now ..
So you're seeing Tegan & Sara on Monday (right)? Sounds cool hope you have fun. I still have yet to listen to any of their songs other than Closer but I'll get to it eventually.
