Madonna's actually right. If Guns are banned, mankind will find another way to kill each other through and with the advanced technology we have and will have in the future, it will worsen and reach another brand new level.
I'm sure Madonna supports gun control ( ), and she's using that line in her own way, i.e. it takes a horrible person to hold a gun to someone else and pull the trigger, not ''OMG guyz it's OK to have guns if y'all don't shoot dem at peeps lol!'' like some Americans do.
Madonna uses anything that's culturally relevant in her art, no matter how controversial, and she always has - whether it's religion, sexual minorities, post-feminism or now gun violence.
I find it interesting that the critics are saying she's taking a conservative turn here. Like "Papa Don't Preach", this is deliberately ambiguous for attention from political/social controversy, which is integral to her brand at this point.
The statement in itself I agree with, and Madonna strikes me as someone that's for gun control, but she well knows that that same statement is used by the gun lobby (oh wait NRA) insurrectionists with practically gun manufacturing in their basement in their argument for allowing, say, dozens of magazine rounds in a weapon, which I personally think is patently absurd.
I agree with her to an extent. It's a rather curious issue being that guns are instruments used by said people, but one can still kill without the other, while a gun without a person behind it is for the most part harmless.
What's unfortunate is that we live in a society that developed such a device in the first place, and that we live in a society in which some see it necessary to own a gun simply to protect themselves and their family.
