it's more socially acceptable than two men are is all it is. while Disney doesn't pioneer these concepts, they are still willing to go out of their way to help make a change. however at the same time they still understand the concept of baby steps, especially with gay rights. if that means being a bit generic and patriarchal with lesbian couples, then fine. it's still making a statement, but on a more acceptable way for these times so that we can eventually get to the point where, hey who knows we might have a gay protagonist in our Disney movies or tv shows.
personally i think it'd be more acceptable to have a gay tv show character than film protagonist. so this Good Luck Charlie thing will probably not do much against Disney.
