Why do we have a shitload of males doing progressive/electro R&B (Miguel, Frank, The Weeknd, James Blake, etc.) but almost no females trying those kinds of sounds? Elle Varner is kind of close, but she's still playing it kind of safe, and Janelle is just doing whatever genre she feels like. I don't feel like any of those 4 guys have a female counterpart yet
I wondered this myself.
It seems as if females either go down the middle america/europop path or stick SOLELY to your run-of-the-mill R&B. & it seems that since there is no-one attemtpting to, there is not much inspiration.
Jhené has some elements though i'd class her as more alt. r&b

I don't use DC and I don't use Superman/Batman. But I'd be lying if I said that their last films didn't **** on Marvel and tug abit on The Avenger's wig tbh.
