What happened with Mariah Careys voice? I remember when her vocals slayed in the 90s and now she cant barely sing well.

Mariah had an advantage by starting to sing at the age of four which is why she was extremly good with practice and persistence and her mother was a opera singer, but now her singing skills are horrible. She has no control over her voice whatsoever.

Beyonce started to sing at the age of nine(Her father and mother were not professional singers) if I remember correct and she couldnt sing that well, and honestly today she is a WAY better vocalist than Mariah.

The only way to get REALLY GOOD at anything is practice and persistence. Early age has an advantage as well as high motivation for a long time. Just see Beyonce obsessing and breathing her craft and passion.

She overworked herself throughout the 90's, which resulted in her mental breakdowns and the decline of her voice.

There are several factors:

1. She's had nodules on her vocal cords since she was a toddler.
2. She sang like CRAZY during her marriage to Tommy. After the singing live most nights during the Daydream era, her voice was never the same.
3. She has insomnia.
4. She likes to drink.
5. She's in her 40s.

It has nothing to do with losing her passion for music.

She can sing. She just has nodules on her vocal cords that's why sometimes her voice cracks and she can't hit some high notes like she used to. BUT she is still an awesome vocalist, just listen to her studio vocals they are amazings. She has not lost her passion, she lost confidence when she sings live.
Btw, Beyoncé is NOT a better vocalist than Mariah and will never be. You can't compare them.

But the Daydream Tour was like only literally 7 dates. That's not enough to make someone lose their voice. Mariah never had a real tour during her marriage anyway, so I don't think that's the reason.

Right, but long tours are what could be strenuous. Singing one song at award shows/talk shows to promote shouldn't ruin her voice.

Um, no. If you knew anything about singing you would know that Mariah's technique is perfect as her mother classically trained her from a young age. The reason her voice has declined is because she worked non stop for a decade which took a tole on her voice which is extremely fragile due to nodules she was born with.

Releasing albums almost every year for over a decade will always at one point hit you.

Mariah can still out-sing every one of your faves tho. Sure, it's not as powerful, but she can still sing better than the majority of the population in the world.

She's just scared and nervous. During the Charmbracelet era everyone thought her voice was gone, and then WBT came along. She just needs confidence. But obviously it's not as strong as the 90's, but it's been 23 years. Literally NO ONE sounds the same from when they debut to the present.

First off we all know(or should all know by now) that Mariah has nodules, had a grueling work schedule throughout the 90's, and worked hard. The fact that she is out of her prime(but can still outsing 95% of the pop girls out nowadays ) and can be a bit more inconsistent vocally sometimes.
