Whenever a celebrity shows support for gay rights, the gays always flock to them. When Obama came out in support of gay marriage, the gays almost broke their heels running to the polls to vote for him. I think sometimes celebs use the gays since they know that with some sweet words they'll get their support even if they don't necessarily mean what they preach. Do you think a lot of gays are gullible and crave acceptance wherever they can find it?
Sometimes. It's just hard to determine who's genuine. Gays do tend to flock to whoever claims to support them. But people like Obama and Gaga (you know I had to bring her up!) put their money where their mouth is, so to speak. We just want to be loved
Kind of but you can't blame them for wanting big names and influential figures supporting their cause.
There will always be people trying to profit off of a demarginalized group, and then you will have people that have actually walked their talk like Obama, Lady Gaga, and Madonna.
Oh please, when people don't support us people complain, but when they do they say they're doing it for attention. For all I know, you could be faking your opinion on the matter too.
In a sense there could be a higher rate of incidence, but can you blame us? When someone supports us, a lot see it as refuge or shelter from what has been in the past an extremely unwelcoming world. The prejudice and hate is still felt, if not as strong, and it makes sense that people would support a person or entity that makes them feel accepted and safe.
That said, I do think that the LGBT community's individuals have minds of their own, and are able to assess the situation for themselves beforehand. It's not really a choice whether we believe someone as it's more in how we perceive their sincerity, but I'm sure most don't just blindly latch onto absolutely everything.

Right?? Everyone wants to be accepted and understood. Not to shade gaga but shes always like "im here for the outcasts and blah blah blah" and they all flock to her (gay and straight)
And by the way most gays flock to those with influence and power. i mean Obama actually included us in his inauguration speech. this doesnt help his popularity with america at all.
I confess that I dont like when Celebrities mention the gays just for the attention tho (which I believe many does so). I really understand Gaga really loves the gays but sometimes is kinda doubtfull
I'm actually proud of Gaga because she is not solely supporting gay marriage (the only place where gay rights seem to be being pushed = the only area the allows people/companies to profit), but also supporting homeless gays and other gay charities which are not in the spotlight.
Yeah, those silly gays who have only gained mainstream acceptance and recognition in society in the last decade, supporting and voting for people who support their rights! They're just so gullible!1!!
