Ya that only sounds pretentious to people because it makes them feel insecure about what most pop stars are doing. There is a difference between critical thinking and pretence.
I can't see how Beyonce is considered prentious. She may sing songs like Diva and Bow Down where she is bragging, but if you think that's pretense you need to check the dictionary. Pretense is all about implication and if it comes from a place of truth, it's not really pretense either because there is nothing exaggerated. It may be arrogant, but not pretensious. She may write King B on the mirror, but that is (tongue-in-cheek) and not exaggerated since she has been referred to as a Queen for years prior and has enough success to prove that this title isn't an exageration, just a boastful nickname.
For example. The Queen of England living in a castle is not pretentious. Some normal woman decorating her home in stately patterns, calling it a Manor and having paintings of herself in it is pretensious.
That all being said, I'd have to say the answer is Gaga (and I do LOVE Gaga, this isn't shade it's just how she is). Gaga's whole rise to fame is based on pretense, exaggerating how important she is by dressing crazily and showing up in eggs an crazy entrances. That's a lot of what she is and in her case it's not a bad thing. Even her name Lady Gaga carries with it pretense because she's putting a title on her name to make her seem more important. Now that she's undeniably worthy of her name, I wouldn't consider it pretensious though. Also a lot of her interviews for Born this Way were painfully pretenious.

Beyonce is aware of her talent but still stays humble about it, Diva and Bow Down are songs, it's not that serious.
I would go with Gaga even though I think it's all about the character and I still think she talented. And Rihanna.

Yeah I didn't really understand all the people putting Madonna either tbh...Madonna might be confident, and come off as a little cocky sometimes...but she should be. She's achieved so much.

You may think she's cocky or narcissistic but pretentious is not a word I'd associate with her at all.
I'd have to say Gaga, the whole thing about her career being all about art and how her videos are about art and her songwriting is about art as well as the costumes and how they make political statements. I love her but even her stans will admit it's true.
