I couldn't find another thread about this so I'll just do it here.

I was just watching ESPN2's 1st & 10 segment on First Take and they were talking about this. Dana Jacobson, Skip Bayless and Rob Parker were discussing the nominees.

Rob says that Madonna should not be in the Hall Of Fame before some of the others *I caught part of it*

So basically, do you think Madonna is a Hall Of Famer? I couldn't find the nominees list.

Here is the full list of nominees. 5 get chosen to be inducted out of these 9:

The Beastie Boys

I think Madonna deserves. She has been in the music for more than 2 decades and she's still relevant

I would absolutely jump for joy if the Beasties made it in.

Madonna's a lock to be inducted in '08. If she's, somehow, not inducted, it may be time to shake up the selection committee.

I, personally, would also love to see Afrika Bambaataa get inducted, if only for "Planet Rock", which is one of the most important recordings in the history of music.

Madonna has to be in the top 5 of that list. I agree with Ryan that she should be a lock to get in. I'd love to see the Beatie Boys make it though.

Madonna and Beasties, obviously.

By the way, here are the five that I predict will get in, in order of how sure I am of them getting in.

1) Madonna
-- Obviously. One of the most important musicians to ever grace the music world.

2) Donna Summer
-- Mostly because of how important she is to dance music. She is a pioneer.

3) John Mellencamp
-- And no, it's not because of "THIS IS OUURRRR COUNTRYYYYY." He was an important figure in the 1980's, and guys like John Mayer, Ryan Adams and the like wouldn't be around today without Mr. Mellencamp and his influence.

4) Chic
-- Another artist that was around during Donna Summer's era who also made a ton of important and influential songs. Ever heard of "Le Freak"? Yeah, that's Chic.

5) The Beastie Boys
-- A tough choice over the other nominees(especially The Ventures, and if you don't know why, I'll give you three simple words: "Walk Don't Run"), mostly because it's hard to imagine a trio like the Beasties ever being inducted into the Hall of Fame, but their contributions to all kinds of genres, particularly hip hop and alternative, should put them over the top.

I don't believe Madonna should be in the R&R HOF because she is not rock n roll. But either is half of the other people they have in there. But no...no Madonna in the HOF.

Are you mentally deficient? Is this a cry for help? How about we kick out Ray Charles, Fats Domino, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Stevie Wonder, Grandmaster Flash, Miles Davis, Percy Sledge, The Righteous Brothers, Earth Wind & Fire, and MICHAEL FREAKING JACKSON, to name a few, if we're only allowing "rock n roll" artists?

Seriously, don't even tell me she doesn't deserve to be in the hall of fame, especially with that "argument" and especially when there are far less deserving artists that are actually in the hall.

Sorry to be mean, but that's the dumbest thing you've ever said. Aretha Franklin made it in and she's nowhere near rock!

Well, here's my 5 picks

1. Madonna
I mean come on, it's Madonna. She has to be in there.

2. Beastie Boys
Like Run DMC, they mix rock with hip-hop very well. Who doesn't love these guys? They deserve to be in.

3. John Mellencamp
Ryan said it best, he truly is an icon. It would be somewhat of a shame if he didn't make it in.

4. Donna Summer
When it comes to dance music, I don't think anyone did it better than Donna. Though I never was a fan of her, she did revolutionize how we look at dance music.

The 5th one I am not sure on because the rest I don't really remember.

5. Chic
I probably recognize them the most out of the others. It's sorta hard for me to decide who else should be in.

That's why I said "neither is half the people that are int there" if you knew how to read. Actually, I think they should change the title of it to the "Music Hall Of Fame" because most of the people they put in there aren't rock in roll.

i would rather call madonna artist over musician, but hell yeah, she deserves her spot among legends.
