First of all, you're never going to see those people again, and they're not going to write you off based on your music taste.
Second of all, the artists you guys listen to are called pop artists for a reason. They're popular. Everyone listens to them.

I don't have it very loud if I do because I don't really want everyone around me to hear what I'm listening to

Putting headphones in in public makes me a bit nervous though because I like to be able to hear what's going on around me.

No I always listen to music with my headphones when I'm out.

Listening to it out loud in public does.I'll do it if I'm on the bus or walking somewhere but not if in in the store.

And no, I do NOT listen to music without headphones regardless of where I'm at.
