I believe Hung Up is only certified Platinum in the US, Bad Romance was certified 6xPlatinum (I think?) before and is now certified Diamond with the new rules. This means that BR has had more impact over time.

Yes, because single sales in the 2005 marketplace are totally comparable to single sales in the 2009 marketplace. Because digital sales worldwide didn't totally explode in that period, and "Hung Up" didn't sell well at all for a 2005 single.
