It seems like her only strong point is songwriting but why would that matter to any of you? You don't speak Japanese even then I don't think that's enough for her to be the "undisputed queen" and I really believe the only reason why she's respected as an artist is because her music is slow as **** since there's some sort of perception from pseudo-musically pretentious people that music that is fun and fast can't be good
She's not a Björk or a Madonna. Stop.

I speak enough Japanese to understand her message. And even then, I look up the lyrics to better understand the song. Besides, it's not just her songwriting. Not every song has to be a bop for it to be appreciated. In fact, if it's slow, it makes it more easier to sing along and understand. And not every song she has is slow. Her best work IMO is some of her faster work.
Utada is not for everybody, that's true. But she's a wonderful artist that does the work herself. She doesn't depend on another songwriter to make the ideas for her. It comes from her mind and her lips. That's what makes her a special artist in J-Pop and a special artist in my book.
