To be honest, no but I also don't care that much! I don't care when I hear other black people or anyone say "N****" because it's honestly something that just seems so "normal" yet I would never say it in my life and I would never want someone to call me that. It means the same thing as the proper way of spelling the word (N***er) no matter how much this generation tries to make it a term used in a friendly manner to greet one of their friends. So, no!

It encourages ignorant people to use unacceptable language.

It's dumb in the fact that the oppressors are still gonna use it and it gives them an excuse to because of the people who embrace their own slur. EX with the N word. it's the dumbest thing we ever done is to embrace that word as well as getting Jeri Curls. I hope Gays drop using the F word that only means Homophobes will start saying gays use it why can't I. Why not come up with new words instead of reusing bad ones.

No it doesn't. If a white persons or anyone that isn't black says the n word or says it in a non threatening manner black people will have an issue. Even though some black people claim to use it like the op said.

Same can be said with ****, ****, ***, spic or other derogatory words.

I agree with it to a certain extent, but I don't like to actually reclaim the "f word" myself, because I feel that its derogatory history is too hurtful. Even in reclaiming a word we are reminded of the intentions of those who use the word in a negative light, and of the emotions and attitudes expressed and caused by those words. Everyone else can do it as much as they please - I support and understand their reasons for doing so - but I can't bring myself to do so.

Well, this is a very subjective topic however I will say...generally, reclaiming a racial **** or epithet is frowned upon by that respective group but from a personal stand-point I find reclaiming as a way of expression -- I do believe everyone has freedom of expression. Also, I have no problem with one of my friends (and yes, again, I am black) using the "n" word as a term of endearment (if I may) used in an informal conversation. But again, that's just my personal stance; the NAACP doesn't support my opinion by any means.

It makes a little sense but its not very practicable. People from outside seeing someone using those derogatory terms will think its stupid to use words like that and especially if you're from the same group. Reclaiming is not an idea many people recognize and therefor people are better off just not using these words. Anyways it also varies from person to person and I don't wanna sound very stereotypical but the most common example is a black individual calling themselves the n word. But yet you don't see this practiced as much in other racial backgrounds. Overall people are better of not using the words since it will cause the least amount of problems. Words mean nothing as long as you give it no power so there is no reason to use the words in the first place if you simply ignore it.

Yes, it takes away the power of those who would otherwise use the word to insult, hurt and put down and gives it to the marginalized group to use as in a (hopefully, but not always) empowering context.
