A relative of mine got an M3 for his first car, like, wtf. . Here I am hoping that I MIGHT get a Golf for mine. I didn't even know that dealers sell performance cars like that to first-timers, I know that my dealer refuses to sell GTIs to teenagers.
Yeah, that pricing is a little bit silly—especially with a difference of $20,000
Price differences can get a bit crazy when you look at the difference between countries.
edit: no, I feel like an idiot now. i'm just realizing this is the CLA was the superbowl-ad car,

When it comes to the Germans, I think they know exactly what they want to design, and I'm sure BMW has a very sensible explanation for why they made the M-DCT work the way it does. In other words... it's their choice to make it stupid, but that doesn't mean it's the right choice.
Haha, new one?
Uh, why would the dealer refuse to sell GTIs to teens? It's not like that's a dangerously fast car... it's a four-cylinder, front-wheel-drive hatchback that happens to have a turbo. GTI probably has high insurance rates, especially for teenagers, but that's the only good reason not to get a used one over a regular Golf imo. My first car was an A3 2.0T that had been in the family for a few years... so my first car was basically a GTI.

But wait!
The new Sport has what appears to be a BMW Steptronic-esque gear-selector
instead of the knob

Doesn't look much different than the old Range Rovers lol. I want an Evoque.
I'll be getting my first car this summer (finally getting my license in 2 weeks) and idk what to really go for. I really want a new Ford Fusion or Nissan Altima and I found a couple great lease deals but it's probably a dumb idea for a first car. I don't wanna be seen in some POS though I've looked and the cheapest car that I like would be around $8k.

The regular Range is kind of ugly. A step down from the last model. I know the interior is supposed to be amazing, but in photos the simpler switchgear and materials don't impress me. Not compared to the industrial, vault-like beauty of the more boutique-looking old one:
On the other hand, the RRS is a definite improvement. Old one was looking dated and the new one is instantly better. Maybe it's the fact that both of these cars were influenced by the Evoque that cheapens the big Range in my eyes. The RR should be the design leader for the brand, but instead their second-cheapest vehicle is.

They changed them just sufficiently to keep up with the competition without sacrificing their very well recognized fundamental design.
What year model? What's the priority for you (looks, features, ride quality, power, MPG, etc). Read a couple of reviews, and check maintenance rates + cost of parts in your area.

I always think that it looks so much like a Ford Explorer whenever I see it
At least there's still the LR4, where you can get that kind of look
I agree, the new Sport is absolutely stunning, definitely my favorite out of the three. Do you think that they took a similar approach to Audi with the Range Rover? That is: a simpler, more plain and corporate approach to luxury? I definitely hear you out but I think that, well for me at least, it's quite alright that the Sport is the most flashy of the three. In my opinion their products are done quite well right now for who they're meant to appeal to.

I suppose, the look isn't necessarily dated.
I really want something that's at least a 2006. Design is probably the deciding factor for me. I've been able to find the new Hyundai Sonata's and Ford Focus's for around $12k, and I also really like the 2010ish Mazda6.
But then the reason that I feel like leasing is a good idea is because I always want the latest and greatest, so even though I wouldn't be getting anything out of leasing a vehicle, I would still have a flashy new one I can get a base model 2013 Altima for $120/month or a specced out one for $290/month with $3k down for 36 months, or a base Fusion for $200/month (didn't ask on a specced out one). I'd totally be up for that but it just makes me worry that I'll crash it seeing as it'll be my first car
It's seriously an endless loop for me, I've been trying to figure it out for a year and I still don't know what to do. If I could find a nice looking car for $5k, I'd just pay that in cash and then sell it in a year or so when I have more experience, then lease.

Don't waste your time with a base new Altima unless all you want is lots of space and good mileage. And even then there are better choices, like a used Prius or Fusion Hybrid.
I'd buy a used car before leasing a new one, but if you know you won't keep it long, leasing could make sense for you. Any reason you're looking at the new Fusion over the new Focus? And where the heck are you finding new Hyundai Sonatas for the price of a Hyundai Accent? Unless you're talking used, of course.

Yeah I don't think I'd go for the base trim of any car if I were to lease. Might be more apt to deal with a base trim if I bought used but I'd like certain tech features (push start, remote start, etc).
The only thing holding me back from leasing is the experience part. Can you imagine how embarrassing it would be if I crashed a brand new car that's also my first car? And actually I was looking at the new Focus too, I really like it. I prefer the looks of the Fusion (obviously), and a lot of people have Focus's around here, but I kinda like the thought of getting a Focus because it's smaller and cheaper. My grandma has a previous year Fusion and I love the feel of driving it, it's really safe, so that's another reason I was leaning toward the Fusion. Once I get my license I'll probably test drive both.
And yeah sorry, I was talking used with the Sonata

The exterior of the new S class is so pretty!
You can truly enjoy the luxury of it only if you have a driver though.

I love the Range Rover Evoque and the all new Range Rover.
Mercedes is taking their designs in the wrong direction. The CLA, S, E, A, SL and SLK aren't as good looking as their predecessors.
I love the SLS though.
And this new BMW Gran Lusso Coupé Concept looks amazing.
Probably a precursor for the new 8 series.
