I don’t think I’ve seen any prior allusion to this, but unlike HP, SW has an animated film/television franchise (Clone Wars). HP has no animated film/TV presence or any TV presence at all outside of repeat broadcasts of the movies. If Tron Legacy, Avengers EMH, Ultimate Spiderman, Superhero Squad, etc, are any indication, then there are going to be more SW cartoons, now that Disney owns Lucas Film. I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney eventually has a live action SW show coming down the pike like the new S.H.I.E.L.D. show starting this fall. Warner Bros. has owned the rights to HP for over a decade now and has made no attempt to expand the franchise to any other visual/motion picture mediums outside of video games and live action movies.
Since impact goes far further than gross (and SW even slays HP in that), the answer is pretty obvious
No the hell it does not.
HP gross is well over 21 billion not even including all of the book sales. SW can't touch that, not even adjusted. Delusional. The HP books gross alone are well more than half of SW's gross.
The 3 original "Star Wars" movies are considered movie classics.... Something that the Harry Potter movies may become, but as of now they are most certainly not.

First of all, cool it with the 's - they're annoying as **** and it doesn't do anything to add to your point.
Secondly - the Star Wars franchise has grossed more than the HP franchise. With the Expanded Universe, the revenue from the Star Wars franchise actually does slay the revenue from the HP franchise.

The reason HP hasn't been made into an animation is because JK Rowling won't allow it.
She turned down initial film offers to HP because she wanted to keep the rights to the character, and apparently she only agreed when the contract was changed to say all the production team and cast must be British (meaning Stephen Spielberg had to walk away), and no spin-offs could be made without her permission.
