Marina to Volunteer in Africa; Releases Debut Single; Future Plans
May 26, 2013
The new, up and coming artists, Marina and the Diamonds, has officially released her debut single, "Needles and Pins (I'm Not Alright)" today. The video, directed by Jonas Åkerlund, is set to premiere tomorrow night on E!, and then be set to be out for digital download on iTunes and other digital retailers the following morning.
The Single:
Length: 5:37
Genre: Pop, dance, alternative pop, electronic, dubstep
Writer(s): Marina Diamandis, Łukasz Gottwald, Henry Walter, Rick Nowels
Producer(s): Dr. Luke, Marina Diamandis, Cirkut, Porter Robinson, Rick Nowels
Label: Written Without Warrant
But her single is far from the only thing she's been paying attention to.
The starlet has officially announced that she is to fly to Africa (Specifically: Somalia & Rwanda) to volunteer and help around in any situation needed. Vaccines (Already on their way to the countries), food, clean water, clean clothes and other materials are things the artist has already officially purchased to give to people once she arrives. The main producer of her new single, Łukasz Gottwald (Known as the hitmaker Dr. Luke) is rumored to be going with her to the countries.
"I'm not just some bitchy little singer," Marina Diamandis said when asked. "I actually do think I can help. I just don't wanna be seen as a singer (Despite the fact how new I am) that just does these kind of things for the publicity. There are countries in need of help, and that's what I'm doing."
She has also stated that one third of any money she gets from her debut single and any other music she puts out will go to help support UNICEF.
"It's just the right thing to do nowadays..."
The star tweeted just earlier today about her headed to Somalia:
She has also been asked about what she plans to do in the future of her career. When asked, her producer she seems to be quite fond of, Gottwald said:
"We're... already planning new things. Big things. You'll just have to wait and see, because I don't think either of us should really speak about it, because it would ruin the idea we already have... Musically, that is."
"Music isn't the only thing I want to do," Diamandis said for herself. "I mean, yeah, I love it, and I probably will always continue to do music, I mean, I only have a single out, for Christ's sake, but I want to be able to do other things. I have a few tricks up my sleeve that I'll totally be ready for."
We wish only the best of luck to Diamandis and Gottwald in Africa, and for the single.
Be sure to buy "Needles and Pins (I'm Not Alright)" on iTunes and Amazon today, and look out for the video on E! tomorrow night.

Marina and the Diamonds & Dr. Luke... Lovers?
After working together on only one song, both Marina Diamandis (Marina and the Diamonds) and Łukasz Gottwald (Dr. Luke) have gone down to Somalia and Rwanda to help out.
After recording for Diamandis' lead single, "Needles and Pins (I'm Not Alright)", the two have been inseparable, seen almost everywhere together where they go.
When directly asked about it, all Diamandis had to say was:
"What do you think?"
... before continuing off with Gottwald and another producer of the song, Henry Walter (Cirkut) to a bistro.
Only three days ago, Diamandis and Gottwald were seen together at another cafe, drinking coffee and doughnuts. They continued off in one of Diamandis' cars, and went off towards Gottwald's apartment.
They are currently on their way to Somalia and Rwanda to help out for UNICEF, and it is unknown when they are set to return.
We're not sure what you might think, but it seems clear to us that something is up with Marina and Luke.

You just list every events and relevant things you did.
It will helps either her single sales or her album sales, but also and artist can become more relevant by having multiple things she does, but be careful to not be overexposed, Selena is a great example, she had a brillant debut then became tiny bit overexposed but now she's back on track to slay.

Liam Gallagher Criticizes Marina and the Diamonds; Marina Retorts
Just earlier today, the former frontman of the band Oasis, Liam Gallagher sent out a tweet to insult the song "Needles and Pins (I'm Not Alright)" by singer-songwriter Marina Diamandis, known as Marina and the Diamonds, that was only just released today.
Gallagher has also recently insulted a song by popular electronic duo Daft Punk, claiming he could've written their newest single, "Get Lucky" in just "an hour". A larger question is, why is Gallagher even paying attention to Diamandis when the song just released today, and hasn't even been considering a chart position this week? Is he resorting to just insulting new music, or is he planning on actually releasing something to prove himself still a worthy artist and band member?
Soon after Gallagher's tweet, Diamandis responded to the tweet indirectly, implying Gallagher is a "has been" and that he should either put out new music or keep quiet.
Marina and the Diamonds just released her newest single, and she's already gotten criticism, and already stepped up to defend herself and insult one of the most respectable artists in the industry. Is she out of her place, being a new artist, or is she right to defend herself?
Only just the newest pseudo-feud out, will this amount to anything, or is it only a mere bump on both of the artists' roads in their careers?
