Third-grade teacher Jennifer Doan was found under the rubble of Oklahoma’s Plaza Towers Elementary School after trying to protect her students from the recent devastating tornado.
Jennifer Doan told CBS News of the terror and confusion as the twister began tearing the school to pieces.
“We told them to get down. Power was already cut and they were all scared,” she said.
Doan explained how she put her arms around the terrified children closest to her and tried to comfort them. Despite her best efforts, seven of the 20 children in her care perished in the disaster.
“I don't know how long we were trapped. Somebody finally came and dug debris from over my head, reaching their hand down for me," she said.
Doan is currently recovering in hospital, suffering from fractures to her sternum and spine.
May God bless this woman. That was a very selfless act. Kudos to her and I will pray for her speedy recovery, thirteen of the 20 children that survived and for the young souls of the 7 who died.
