Well she reinvented herself a lot so it depends on what you like:
Control - is funky, smooth and cool like the 80's. You can hear a lot of prince's influences in her songs
Rythm Nation - it's a more conscious album and heavy on new jack swing. The album will have you dancing a majority of the time but still have a message behind it. Then it closes off with ballads to tease about the future direction of her music
Janet - is very sexual but also personal and explores many themes from love to strength in AA women etc....
TVR - it's a dark and personal album but it does have it's tracks where it's lighter. She reps the gay community so that's a plus.
All For You - is her last greatest album and it's more upbeat compared to the others. It's really fun/cute pop songs. With a couple of ballads and sex anthems here and there.
The Damita Jo/20 Y.O. - is more slow downed r&b if anything not too great
Discipline - is more futuristic in tone, but pulls it off well. But runs a little bit too long and doesn't compare to her five classic albums
