I had a feeling Idol would be contacting her to possibly fill a judge's chair. When they showed Randy's goodbye video they kept Kelly saying, "I'll take your place," at her audition.
The nostalgic person in me, says this would be perfect. Yes, Idol has lost a lot of viewers and is a sinking ship, however, it's still watched by millions and gets a ton of press. Looking at some of the idol blogs, Kelly has always been on pretty much everyone's list as a possible judge.
But on the other side, I don't know if she would have time? Auditions usually start in the fall and she'll be on tour, promoting her Christmas album, her wedding, working on the 6th studio album. But then again judging is just sitting there and hearing people sing. Duets was so different, because Kelly had to pick songs, help with the arrangements, and mentor her contestants.
I'm not sure how many more seasons Idol has left with FOX, but I'd be ok with Kelly judging one season.
Well, usually the season's auditions are between June-July, like last season. So Kelly would have some time to judge before the big fall tour
EDIT = June-July is for the stadium auditions. The callback auditions (where we actually see the judges), are between September-November, if they plan on keeping the schedule of last year. So it all depends on the days it occurs, maybe Kells will have to fly back and forth
I obviously would love to see Kelly talk every week, but I think it's too early for her to be a judge. I think when her ride on pop radio is totally over in about five-ten more years, she'd be more coveted as a legendary reality TV star and even more wanted as a judge.
Don't know who E! 's 'insider" is, but they posted this.
Take it with a grain of salt, they're just reporting what another publication reported.
Quote:
Sources confirm to us that Idol wants to bring back former winners and contestants as judges for season 13. No deals are final, but we hear that original Idol Kelly Clarkson and Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson are on board for next year.
Fox is also chasing runner-ups Clay Aiken and Adam Lambert to fill the final slot, as Idol will go back to a three-judge format after dumping current panelists Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban. Veteran judge Randy Jackson exclusively revelead his exit to us earlier this month.
The Idol insider tells us that while nothing is final yet, it's "95 percent there." The alum panel will be Fox's attempt to reignite ratings by bringing back Idol faces that the fans care about. "It's Idol stars guiding the next generation" says one Fox source.
A Fox rep tells us: "We aren't commenting on the judge speculation." FremantleMedia also has no comment on the story.

OMG this would be so amazing. Maybe they are changing the format to be more in the wheelhouse of The Voice/X-Factor with mentoring. The one thing she liked about Duets. And it would keep her local (since she'll be married etc) but still involved in music and performing occasionally.
Let's be honest. She was really amazing as a judge. She was the only good part of it. She's funny and and would probably help create a lot of buzz.
We would probably get a slimmed down Kelly with good styling again.

OMG, I haven't even thought of that! That'd be so awesome, what kind of destiny / fortunetelling ?! Imagine what she would have thought had she known that eleven years later, she will really take his place, after 25 million albums sold and three Grammys?
I can really see them playing that video of her audition to introduce her as the new judge. DO IT, KELLY! She probably won't though

CMB is a damn beast. Where does it fall in comparison to her other single sales?

Not too good...
It has been outsold by:
Breakaway Since U Been Gone Behind These Hazel Eyes Because Of You My Life Would Suck Without You Already Gone Don't You Wanna Stay Mr. Know It All What Doesn't Kill You
Also, considering single sales are much higher now than before, I'd say that A Moment Like This, Miss Independent, Never Again and Walk Away all did better too sales-wise.
That means Catch My Breath has only sold better than:
Low The Trouble With Love Is I Do Not Hook Up All I Ever Wanted Dark Side
