Is the music industry going to stay alive and reach the point where CDs are a whole different thing?

For example I thought of an album playing the music like it's a CD player, the album cover moving like it's a video (harry potter news paper), and you could for example bump your iPod to the album and the music would transfer.

Or is it going to die and be something funny to the people of the future?

I'm pretty sure the music Industry future is ALL digital. no more CD's, just Digital Albums, Online CD Covers.

Seriously, I feel like "stans" are gonna be like the "extremists" of today.

Physical albums will always be around. They will always be in demand just like how physical copies of movies will always be in demand. Even vinyl is becoming popular again. They just won't be the main source of sales, likely.

The main source of sales though will come digitally. Artists who cannot sell albums, will likely just put out singles in the future, though people who can sell albums will still put them out for fans to buy.

And I see record labels being a thing of the past, or at least not being necessary. Macklemore's success proves that you don't need a label these days and it'll only get easier for unsigned artists in the future with social media, etc.
