Yes, it'll probably happen tonight. For example, I'll hear like a loud crash and then I'll just jump awake, looking completely frazzled and undone. It's the pits tbh.
Hypnogogic imagery, it's the moment between sleep and awake. Sometimes you try to stop yourself from sleeping hence the jerking motion you'll get and sometimes you'll end up in a dream and fall asleep.
The hypnogogic jerk happens a lot when you're falling asleep in class and then realize it and jerk yourself awake.
