Louis Walsh has confirmed that he and Gary Barlow will back on The X Factor this year, and has also tipped Sharon Osbourne to return.

Walsh revealed in a chat with RTE Ten that he has personally campaigned for Osbourne to rejoin The X Factor after a six-year absence, and hinted that Mel B, Nicole Scherzinger and Tulisa Contostavlos are also in the running.

"I'm back, I am definitely back," he declared. "Me and Gary, we're the bookends and I'm sure Sharon Osbourne's back and I helped to get her back, because she's great fun."

He added of the fourth judging slot: "I hope it's going to be Tulisa or Nicole. It might be Mel B, I don't know! But I think it probably will be Nicole."

It was reported earlier this month that Osbourne was close to signing an X Factor deal worth between £1.5 million and £1.8 million, with an insider claiming that she had "unfinished business" on the talent competition.

"It was never about the money for Sharon," an insider claimed. "She genuinely loves the programme and considers her previous time on the panel as being a very fulfilling time in her life."

Scherzinger's own future on The X Factor was called into question in March, when rumours emerged that she was more interested in returning to Hollywood than judging another year.

The former Pussycat Doll joined the series last year as a replacement for Kelly Rowland, who has been tipped as possible addition to the US version of The X Factor.

ITV will air the next series of The X Factor later in the year.

I'd be here for him finally getting the boys this year. Gary could have the groups, Sharon the overs and Nicole the girls.

He's so pretentious, and he really does not know how to pick acts. I mean, Christopher Maloney and Frankie Cocozza were pure crap

- and then he would go constantly go and bully people like Rylan Clark & Janet Devlin.

There really weren't much talent to choose from in his category though

And I hardly think him critiquing contestants on their performances constitutes bullying

To be quite fair though, Simon Cowell had the groups a couple times too and he never won with them either.

I think what's ironic is that Simon and Louis had the groups category multiple times throughout the show's run, but never got one of them to win. And then Tulisa got the groups her first year and she got one of them to win
