You should happen to know that program directors aren't always the head of choosing the music. Corporate big bosses at Clear Channel pick the hits, and make playlists for each stations. Why? Because they choose what songs are hits, which songs aren't, and which songs will bring in more listeners. If the song isn't doing well (or a company isn't giving them enough "favours" tsk tsk) they will keep the song at a lower rotation level for certain stations. Radio is all a money-making business, so don't take your anger out on one person because they aren't playing HTNGU

I'm obviously joking. Clear Channel approves a song for adds. They then test the song on higher rotations on certain stations to see how much Audience it brings in. There is a certain limit for the amount a station spins it until it is approved by Clear Channel to be spun more. Devon, for you to even say I don't know much about the radio industry, I just can't.

I'm talking about the fact that I personally know program directors for two major Top 40 stations and that I go to school for Radio & Television. Seriously, we're lectured every week on this radio ownership **** Even if they wanted to play Avril, a lot of times they can't since it's not up to them. It's just the way the industry is, everything is controlled from the headquarters, and half the time it's not even to do with whether the song is doing well or not, but to do with how many favors a record company will do for CC.
