In the last three years, beyonce has become more of a celebrity than an artist, it's like everyone in the media is praising the hell out of her making her look like the best performer in the history of music, but the general public saw how her performance at the Superbowl was underwhelming & how it was more all about the lightening/ visuals than the actual singing.

Alicia released two albums before Bey's solo career and that's why she sold more. Just look at DC's sales: Writings on the Wall (1999) sold over 12 million. Survivor (2001) sold over 10 million. Sales were steadily decreasing in the 2000's, which is why Dangerously in Love (2003) "only" sold 9-10 million compared to Songs in a Minor's 12 million. But the Diary of Alicia Keys released in 2003, has only sold 8 million, while Dangerously in Love sold over 9 million.
