Not to be rude, but you're wrong. Just plain wrong. However, don't fret, because the way you think is how a lot of people think. Fortunately for you, it's not entirely your fault. Gender and sex are very confusing for people who don't put a lot of thought into it and/or have never had any sort of issue with how they identify. Allow to break down this post and explain.
Gender is a social construct. If you're unaware with what that is, it's basically something we humans have created and defined to label one another. Gender is not something we choose, unfortunately. The moment we come out of our mothers, we are told what gender we are because of what is in between our legs, or what's not in between our legs. Because of this label, boy or girl, we are expected to act a certain way, look a certain way, like certain things, and identify a certain way as we begin to get older. For example, if you're a "boy", you are expected to be masculine, like blue, and play sports. It just so happens that not everyone relates to what is expected of them.
Trans people do not choose their gender and they do not "switch teams". A trans person feels as if they've always been the gender they associate with, meaning they're not changing teams. Trans people do not go to sleep one day as a boy and wake up the next feeling as if they're a girl. It's a struggle that many face from the moment they begin to understand gender roles.
Not all trans people want or feel as if they need sex reassignment surgery, and those who do have the operation are doing so specifically because they struggle with their bodies and feel as if what they look like physically is hindering their happiness. However, please note that even when one gets sex reassignment, it does not affect their gender since gender and sex are two entirely different things. A man can have a vagina and a woman can have a penis.
Trans people do not "dress as the opposite sex". A trans woman is a woman and therefore can dress like a woman. The same goes for a man. At the same time, you are allowed to dress however you please. You're confusing trans people with cross dressers, or transvestites.
Yes, sexuality and transgenderism are two different fields, but they are still comparable. Both are thought to be caused by some sort of hormonal imbalance during fetal development, however scientists are not 100% sure. And both are considered the "opposite" of what is normal. When you're a boy, you're expected to like girls. If you have a penis, you're expected to "act like a boy". It all comes to down to social constructs and societal expectations.
