On my first ever day of REAL paid work as a steward, I stood guard on the red carpet for her majesty the queen during the British Military Tournament in 2011! Was only a few feet away from her and had no idea that she'd walk the carpet until the royal guards appeared and special forces instructed a few of us stewards to stand guard.
