well, i'm not thrilled that kanye and 50 are so overrated and selling much more than they deserve to. but i am happy to see that there are still people out there with enough integrity to buy the records and support the musicians they like. i really hope there's some sort of technology that comes out over the next few years that completely eliminates illegal downloading and leaks. anyways, since kanye won, does this mean that we won't be hearing any new music from 50 anymore?

Absolutely phenomenal sales for Kanye.
50 and Kenny shouldn't be forgotten either as had they debuted on any other week, they would have easily hit #1 with their solid sales.

he outsold ALOT of pretty big names/albums with only this 1st week sales!

You better believe they were INVOLVED...not envolved...Its called promotion! They bought into the hype and got KanYe out there! He has a HUGE hit single, he made mad appearances at the VMAs, Ellen, Jimmy Kimmel, the Emmys, the list goes on, oh and the album got RIDICULOUS reviews!! Rolling Stone, a usually pretty critical source, gave homeboy a 4.5 out of 5 star rating! He deserved these sales, and hopefully they have some promo in the works to keep it from falling too bad next week...doesnt hurtt that Good Life is relaly taking off at radio and the #4 download at iTunes...He earned this...dont pull a 50 and try to discredit him. The best thing 50 can do now is give credit where credit is due and stop trying to use drama as a promo tool

Yeah I think it's pretty much set for this year Mariah might break it though but that's the only one that has a chance. This record might be broken next year for sure. But that's what I think

Nobody will top 930k this year, that's impossible. And Mariah won't even be close to it; She isn't known for big debut numbers, she's most known for her longevity. We could think that after "TEOM" she may get a big number, but 10 years ago she had bigger albums than "Mimi", and she wasn't able to sell really huge (and we're talking about the 90's, which means enormous sales) in a first week alone.

^ditto. Kanye has it set and stamped and sadly it might be that way for the next couple of years cuz sales will continue to get lower and lower and lower.
