these 2 albums kinda have the same vibe ... same harmony as well ... and i always wondered which one would people prefer ... to me Rated R is Flaw free and her best album done so far ( probably ever ) while 4 is great but i has run the world , one f the worst tracks I've ever heard.

Rated R to me, Run The World kind of ruins 4 tbh.

I think Rated R , I luv some songs of 4 but the era was a complete mess felt like she released a new single every weeek , while Rated R was a mess too bcuz of DefJam but to me it felt more solid + Rude Boy,Te Amo.Russian Roulette *__* >>

It was just odd to me because I find Rated R to be rather dark with a complex mish-mash of different emotions, where 4 is much warmer and mellow.

4 is better as an album than any of Rihanna's for me.

I love both albums, but I like a few more tracks on '4' than 'Rated R', which isn't a good enough reason to vote.

It's 4 for me.

While Rated R has some great songs (Rude Boy and Rockstar 101 are some of my favourite Rihanna songs) and Russian Roulette is a brave direction, overall I feel like the album has more fillers than 4, and also kind of repeats the same style/subject matter song after song.

4 mixes a variety of sounds in one album while still maintaining coherency, as well as merging different emotions. While there are some songs that are kind of filler-like, the fact that there are so many different sounds makes them less so, because it sounds like a unique vision and point of view. Also, the bonus tracks are super strong and I think it's a bolder album given the music landscape of when it was released.

I don't really agree that these two albums have the same kinda vibe though...

Even though Beyonce continues to grow as an artist and keeps getting better and better, Rihanna stays at the same level but since 'LOUD', she has started to decrease in quality and is seriously going to hit rock-bottom shortly especially after the release of the catastrophic "Unapologetic" ...Just what was she thinking with that album! The only good song is "Diamonds" ... possibly "Stay" !!!

Despite all of this, 'Rated R' is not only the better album between the two, but also Rihanna's best album ever! I mean with tracks like "Russian Roulette", "Fire Bomb" and "Cold Case Love", you can't fault it! Although, I'm not a huge fan of "Photographs" (maybe because it has Will.i.am on it!!!!)

I feel like "Run The World (Girls)" ruins '4'. But to conclude 'Rated R' is better than '4'.

A bonus song isn't filler though. It's the opposite. Filler is something that needs to take up space. Bonus's are extras that don't need to be there to have the album complete.

Also Schoolin' Life is a favourite of many, and Dance For You charted on the Hot 100 despite not being a single and it peaked at #6 on the R&B songs chart. So that's hardly "filler" or it wouldn't have done that well.
