Carly Rae Jepsen's Family Reaction To Nicki Minaj Collabo
Quote:
“When it was done, my brother shouts, ‘I love it!’ And my grandmother was like, ‘What did she say?’ ‘I have no idea, but it was great!’ And so we had to listen like three more times before we could understand it.”
And it seems Jepsen’s grandparents may be cooler than yours. The singer/songwriter says they already knew who Minaj was before she dropped the track on them.
“Oh totally. They are into pop culture,” Jepsen said. “They know everything and they think that I know everything, which is hilarious. I came home for dinner and my Nona says, ‘Does Shania Twain have hair extensions?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t know, but next time I go for lunch with her, I will ask.’ Which never happens, but it’s cute. They think that I know everybody who’s famous, which isn’t really the case at all.”
What Jepsen does know–if “Tonight I’m Getting Over You” is any indication– is a thing or two about heartbreak. The song’s lyrics offer some advice for moving on from a broken heart, with a strong dose of hooking up with someone else to help the lovelorn.
“I think that maybe it’s bad advice, but maybe it’s still really true: that the best way to get over somebody is sometimes to be distracted by somebody else,” Jepsen said. “I don’t know if that’s a healthy theory, but I’ve definitely found in the past that a little flirtation never hurts.”
Well, mine are all dead and the last one standing had Alseimers (IDK how to spell it) so she even forgot I existed so I highly doubt Nicki Minaj would've been in her brain anyway.
As for the rest of the grandparents on ATRL, oh yeah, Carly's grandparents definitely are cooler than them
