Alicia and Mariah will have died out by spring. No album lasts on the charts that long unless you are Carrie Underwood or some phenomenal album like that. The only reason Carrie has lasted as long as she has is because she has both country and pop genres buying her album along with the AI crowd. Alicia and Mariah don't have that much help.
Mariah and Alicia might still be having success with their singles then but the album will be so far down in the charts it won't be a factor.

"Bad Girls" Turn Teens Off:
CALL it the bad girl backlash. We've been force-fed so much unsavoury news about Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie - notorious examples of celebrity role models gone wild - that any mention of them leaves a bad taste in our mouths nowadays.
Pre-teen and teen girls are getting increasingly turned off by their hard-partying lifestyles that involve sex, drugs, drink-driving, rehab and jail stints.
Instead, they're looking up to more wholesome idols like Hilary Duff, Ashlee Simpson, Amanda Bynes, Kelly Clarkson, Hayden Panettiere, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who are getting back in vogue.
According to The Age, Hollywood studios are leaning towards grooming a marketable crop of fresh-faced, well-behaved young actresses.
Last month, Newsweek reported that leading US teen magazine Seventeen is positioning itself far away from Lohan and her tabloid darling ilk by putting rap sheet-free singer Ashlee Simpson on its all-important back-to-school cover.
ROLE MODELS
Seventeen's editor Ann Shoket said Simpson was picked because she is 'living life to the best of her potential' - unlike the bad girls who get all the ink.
'Girls are very smart. If they are giving attention and respect to a celebrity who's not repaying them with the same respect, it's not fair.'
But that's until Disney sweetheart Vanessa Hudgens mucked it up for all squeaky-clean starlets out there.
Last week, the media went berserk over a naked photo of the High School Musical actress-singer that popped up over the Internet.
An embarrassed Hudgens, who's famous for her sweet virginal image by playing innocent science geek Gabriella on the popular TV movie, promptly apologised for her 'lapse in judgment'.
Ironically, the 18-year-old told Oakland Press in an earlier interview: 'I'm a good girl. I'm not gonna go out and be Paris Hilton or whatever... so many people are out there who think they should be role models really are not the best people to look up to.'
The Hudgens scandal seems to suggest that even the most goody-two-shoes celeb can have a bad side. In fact, Lohan and Spears were once Disney alumni who spent years cultivating a bubblegum image for themselves.
But lest the the public forgets, these young women are also flesh-and-blood people, not mere cardboard characters from a soap opera or infallible morality signposts.
They don't simply fall into black or white categories - it is the invisible cadre of managers, publicists and media outlets that make them do so.
For instance, Simpson may be Seventeen's current muse, but she's far from perfect.
Who could forget that just two years ago, she drunkenly climbed atop the counter of a Toronto McDonald's before calling the cashier an expletive - and the whole thing was caught on camera?
The 23-year-old also readily confesses that her worst habit is saying the F-word a lot.
According to MTV.com, Simpson is about to unleash her bad girl alter-ego - whom she affectionately refers to as Vicky Valentine - on her new Timbaland-produced album.
It will feature tracks with provocative titles like Murder and Rulebreaker.
She said: 'While I have a sweet side, a soft side, sometimes you just want to kick some ass too.'
Also letting out her defiant side on her record is rising R&B diva Rihanna, 19.
The hitherto girlish but bland Barbados beauty hit the big time this year, but only after chopping off her long locks for an edgier look and sound on her third album Good Girl Gone Bad.
She explained to Entertainment Weekly that the title 'was an expression of where I am at this point in my life, where I am in my career... it just represents my rebelliousness'.
But Rihanna insisted she'll never allow herself to go to extremes like Lohan and Spears.
'I sympathise with those girls and I want it to stop... The moment I feel a little iffy, I have to snap out, get back on my feet. I can't understand how people let it get that far. To me you have to have control,' she said.
Then there's girl-next-door actress Anne Hathaway from The Princess Diaries who shockingly shed her tiara - and her clothes - in adult films Brokeback Mountain and Havoc.
GROUNDED
The 24-year-old also battled depression in her teens and behaved badly in the past.
She told UK's The Sunday Times: 'You know, Lindsay (Lohan) and I have a lot more in common than people think. It's just I did stuff at college, when nobody knew about it, so I'm not a saint.
'I wasted time doing self-destructive things but it didn't work. I found out you can only dance on so many tabletops. I got that all out of my system and now I'm healthy and I'm grounded.'
But there are family-friendly good girls who are so dirt-free, they're not going to fall from grace any time soon.
Even though Hilary Duff, 20, has sexed it up for her new music video Stranger, her latest album Dignity still delivers fun inspiration for her core tween audience.
In 2005, the former Lizzie McGuire star donated a portion of sales from her Most Wanted concert tour to tsunami relief and is also a spokesman for charity organisation Kids With A Cause.
She told Chicago Sun Times: 'I feel like people thought for such a long time that I was superhuman - an alien chick who doesn't do anything bad. That's just not true!
'I act my age, I'm normal, but I'm very positive. I like that people look up to me, and I want to set a good example. I want people to think I respect myself and that I care.'
Heroes star Hayden Panettiere, who plays the all-American cheerleader on the hit TV series, is also a faultless heroine to many of her fans.
ENLIGHTENED
She recently got involved with the 2008 Declare Yourself campaign to encourage young Americans to register and make an informed vote for the presidential elections.
And even though a number of men's magazines are clamouring for her to strip for their pages, a source told Foxnews.com that Panettiere has no need or want to bare herself because 'she's smart, that's certainly not her style'.
Probably the naughtiest thing the 18-year-old has done is to reduce her mother to tears when she got a tattoo without her parents' permission and kept it hidden for a year.
Amanda Bynes, 21, is probably the most outspoken about avoiding the temptations that trap and destroy some of her peers.
The Hairspray actress told The Age: 'I'm clean and I don't do any drugs or alcohol. I feel like it's a choice I make. I don't need it.'
'For me, I want to stay focused. I want to be an actress. I think it dilutes your acting if you go out every night.'

Get rid of that lousy Timbaland and get her band together and go in the studio with her full band and record her album like that. She will have a much better product. Her album would be ready by March/April which will be perfect timing for the summer tour rounds and by then people will have forgotten about Britney and all the other albums coming out in November.

What the heck? You've only heard two freaking songs, and you're telling her to scrap the whole album!?!?!? Nobody in their right mind would do that, and especially if someone like you asked them to. You aren't a very faithful Ashlee fan. You make me very mad.

No, I guess spending $1400 to meet Ashlee doesn't make me a fan.

I know Timbaland produced the WHOLE ALBUM. Timbaland's music sucks. Just like the 2 songs we have heard from Ashlee. Unless she works with a real rock or pop/rock producer instead of the asshole Timbaland this album is going to suck.

I think Rulebreaker is going to be the first single, they played a clip on tv and she was talking about it. Its hard to believe shes already 23 ... time flies so damn fast! I still see her as the same 19 year old on the Ashlee Simpson show. I hope she doesnt change her music TOO much, or her personality. She seemed so cool

R u sure? Mariah had staying power with "MiMi", and I wasn't as into sales/chart back when Alicia's last studio album came out.
Carrie on the other hand will most likely have another long runner. At this point she'll be in the top 5 for the whole year with sales being so low.

Artists have scrapped full albums in the past for various reasons. Green Day had to scrap an album because the material was stolen/leaked so they ended up with their biggest album "American Idiot". Britney scrapped a full album when she became pregnant for the 2nd time, which was meant to be "Original Doll". So Ashlee scrapping this album because the material isn't good won't be a surprise. Timbaland is a good producer, but Ashlee Simpson? Come on, it's obvious she's not being smart and is just seeing the few top 5 hits Timbaland has made. I'm not talking about with Nelly & JT, because they are no where near Ashlee's style, but other than them and his own singles Timbaland has not had that many successful produced hits this year. All we hear is him working with people, not making hits.

I think the damage is starting to be done, I don't waste my time criticizing Ashlee's new material and Timbaland, I prefer support her no matter which single will be, I love Ashlee and for me is really hard change my position of fan to hater, Geffen is paying Ashlee and Timbaland for a new good material, I don't think they're losing their money killing Ashlee's career.

Well, she might have the same kind of success that Avril is having. Avril is still on the charts (# 30) But she is far enough down where she isn't a threat to any new albums like Ashlee, Britney, Alicia, Etc.

Timbaland would be a good producer for a rap or r&b artist. Not for Ashlee or any pop/rock person. Can you imagine Kelly Clarkson or Avril Lavigne working for Timbaland?
