It IS gay culture though, your choice is whether you identify with that or not. There are plenty of gay people who don't consider themselves a part of gay culture/part of the gay lifestyle. That is fine. I want to reiterate my point with BET, there are plenty of black people who don't associate themselves with that side of their culture. Which is completely fine. The main point is how you address something like that.
The video in question has someone who lives in San Fran, a huge gay hub, explaining "gay culture" to 2 "straight" boys (who are probably BOTTOMS). If they're smart and/or they go outside, they'll realize not every gay person is that way. The same way people of different races can realize not everyone who is black acts the way they're represented in media.

The difference is when you are gay it is more apt to have those terms used on you as an actual character description. The straight terms you used as examples are clearly crude and insulting to openly refer to someone as.

MILF maybe, but Cougar not so much. Especially when a lot of middle aged women identify themselves as Cougar and put a positive connotation on it. Just like a gay person CAN, if they want, identify themselves as a "bear" or a "twink."
In my small town, very few gays actually use those terms. Especially the older ones, I've never heard the word "twink" come out of anyones mouth except my own. But I imagine if I moved somewhere bigger, I might hear those terms a lot more often. It's location based, it's community based, and like I said, It's a niche some choose to embrace.

No one has the right to tell others what words they can or cannot use. But you certainly have a right to speak out if you feel you are being misrepresented by others in your same minority group. It isn't bitching really, though the way I worded it is harsh. It's just a discussion.

If this was the genuine point you were trying to make, I don't see a problem with it. However, you did not start the conversation this way, so therefor you deserve to be called out for it.
