Thank you guys!! and its just being able to research and understand facts and not scare tactics that people try to engrave into individuals that feed the stigma! He's one of my best friends and things like that really test friendships, relationships etc.

Idk I am a firm believer that God gave it to him cause he knew he was strong enough for it.

I'm so happy to hear that. One of the people I've gone out with is HIV positive (he doesn't know that I know), and I'm pretty sure he's not ready to tell me out of fear of losing me. Thankfully I'm not uneducated when it comes to HIV/AIDs. I don't want to tell anybody else yet because I know they'll tell me to stop seeing him, but as far as I'm concerned if we don't work out, it'll be because we don't work out, and not because of his status.

But in any event, I hope a cure is found within the next decade. They are so many amazing people in the world being stigmatized because of this disease.

STD's don't really develope and become stronger or just sprout up, the one's we have today are the same as hundreds of years ago, just more well known and spread because of people's easy modes of transportation and travel now a days

This is great news. Technology can either make or break us. I'm happy that we're getting closer to an actual cure for HIV, hopefully we get to find a cure for cancer as well.

amazing work that those researchers are doing, a lot of people and lives will be saved. Protecting yourself is still better than having to get yourself cured, but at least a lot of people that contract the virus from accidents/blood contact/birth etc will get help!

This is great news for my country

5million+ people in my country are infected with HIV/AIDS. Although I'm happy that they might have found a cure for it, I'm concerned as to how human behaviour/responsibility will decline once they do find a cure. People will still have unprotected sex and they'll still be reckless now that they know they can be cured of HIV. I just hope things will change for the better.

I realize your concern, but I don't really think there's much to be worried about - there's still a whole list of reasons to practice safe sex, including other very-unpleasant illnesses. I doubt that this will cause a significantly harmful drop in the use of protection.

I hope something good comes from this. Though I'm slightly confused how a 'vaccine' will help the immune system to be able to correctly target the HIV once it has been removed from the cell seeing that HIV is consistently mutating and therefore creating different 'variations' of the virus.
