well, he or she was in kindergarten like 12 years more recently than you were (assuming that you were born in '82). age 5/6 is certainly old enough to retain songs (especially since many of these were still played for a number of years afterwards). I was in grades 1 and 2 in 1999 and I was already using video cassettes to record music videos on TV, and happen to remember 90% of the songs in the video.
