One Direction will release their new album in time for Christmas, it has been revealed.

Louis Tomlinson confirmed that the group are currently working on their third studio album with the same team behind Up All Night and Take Me Home.

"We've already started recording the album, we started about a month ago," Tomlinson told the Daily Star Sunday.

"We've been writing and recording it while on tour. We are really happy with it. We don't want to rush it but it will be out for Christmas."

He added: "We have the film coming out as well so we are all pretty shattered but we are all having a great time. We have had a week off this week before heading on to Europe for the tour."

The band have been writing tracks in pairs and recording vocals in their hotel rooms while on the 'Take Me Home' world tour. (source)

It's nice to have confirmation but we knew this already.
They signed the contract for 3 albums in 36 months (three years), and so for this year, next year, and the year after, we'll be expecting November releases.

Surprise surprise. Hate acts who's careers rely on Christmas sales.

It's better than nothing I guess, plus there's the movie to look forward to first

They're at the crucial point where their image has to mature enough to break out beyond the tween demographic, but also not alienate said-demo. They have potential to do so and end up like, say, Take That, but these people (1D + label) really need to know what they're doing for that to happen.

Hopefully it will be their last!
