Say what you will about the outcome, Britney Spears' VMA performance was one of the most-anticipated ones in years. But think how much bigger it would have been had it been billed as Spears taking the stage with former flame Justin Timberlake to perform together. Huge, right? Well, Timbaland, who claims to have nearly collaborated with the singer in the past, says Brit has quashed any chance of a JT collabo taking place anytime soon.

The super-producer told MTV News during VMA weekend that a prospective team-up between the two would be "the best thing that ever happened" and would "help her out a whole lot." But he then dismissed the possibility, saying in so many words that Brit has become big-headed and had dissed him and Justin. "It'll never happen. Nah. It could've, but it won't."

Timbo's advice to Britney about getting her career back on track. "She needs a story," he said. "She has no comeback story. That's the problem. She has to have a team. She needs to come back with Justin doing records; [then we'd see headlines like,] 'She went back to her ex and she's making smashes.' [But instead she got] so big-headed and [was] like, 'Screw you, screw you, I don't need nobody.' "

So is there any chance for Spears to rectify the situation and possibly work with Timberlake and Timbaland? Yes, says the super-producer - if she apologizes.

"She should humble herself and make a phone call and say, 'I'm sorry.' She knows what she's sorry about," Tim said. "She needs to say, 'I was wrong,' and it'll definitely move forward. ... That's all she has to say."

This is unexpected!!

If Timbaland and JT are getting annoying... well, what about Christina Aguilera? Jeez! That woman knows how to sing... ... and how to get people's nerves!!

Gimme More is the ****. It's unique. I've never heard a song over 500 times in my life in a span of two weeks. Yes, thier could be more lyics, but the song overall is the ****.

And I'm glad Britney doesn't want Timbaland. She'd rather make hits on her own. Timbaland is overated and he clearly said, he was bored with music. So why is he complaining?

A duet with Christina Aguilera would be hot on Brit's new album. I bet Roker would fall in love with it too, biased...

I would rather see Britney collaborate with Christina Aguilera, THEY BOTH RULE! Timbaland can go suck his own career somewhere else, BRITNEY RULES PLANET EARTH!

I would've liked Gimme More if someone else sang it (Fergie, Nicole Scherzinger, Beyonce, Rihanna, Amerie, Cassie, and Janet Jackson) I would actually like it. Britney is terrible in the song, and I think the song should be Janet's or Amerie's. I don't like Britney's voice, it's nothing different, her voice isn't unique at ALL. That's why I hate her.

Everything Timbaland and Timberlake do are way better than anything Flopney can pull off. Many masterpieces (The Way I Are, Say It Right, Give It To Me, Promiscuous, etc.) Britney cannot even compare to. Although I did get tired of most of Timbaland's work, MANY others still love his music.

You're kidding, right? Gimme More cannot compare to much of Timbaland's work.

Gimme More is ALWAYS better than any GIVEN song by Timbaland. Say It Right is probably the only song eligible to beat his work. Sorry.

The only Timbaland produced song that's worse than Gimme More is Do It. Do It stole beats or something from some other song. And Do It is catchy, I have to admit, but if the beats weren't stolen it would've been better than Gimme More.
