They only want their artists or the labels themselves to host most videos, that's why.

Youtube has been under heat since Google acquired it. It would still be receiving lawsuits without Google, but not this aggressive. Basically Viacom and others see it like this:

Company A owns - Alpha
Company B owns - Beta
Company C owns - Gamma
Company D owns - Delta
Company E owns - Epsilon

Now if Youtube comes along and provides viewers with Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta and Epsilon, all these companies get angry because they're not making any money off of it and Youtube (through advertising) is making a ton of money.

The labels should just embrace the fact that the fans want an easy way to hear songs and see videos. It's pretty good promotion too, with how big the internet community is today.

Off course Youtube has no right for publishing music videos. I've read it. PRINCE is suing Youtube for publishing his music videos. They said that the reason why they are suing Youtube is because it is the main cause big artists like Prince flop these days.



But i don't agree with him!

Prince is just mad that he's not Madonna, and he can't sell anything like he did 20 years ago.
