Everytime I lurke in a Katy related thread, whether it's her getting a #1 album, singles, successful tour, making history every other week, there seems to be a handfull of members who will do anything to undermine her success? Why is that? Explain.
She's the Female MJ. She's breaking records every other week. The pressed souls can't handle it so they try to dig up any dusty, irrelevant reciepts they can find.
Not all success is deserved. Her very first song was a bit of drivel which did nothing but exacerbate the double-standard homophobia and objectification of women which run rampant in our society. Due to this, I find her to be offensive on a personal level and will not listen to her music.

Not really. Its sad when you promoted an album for 2 years, had all those top 5's and the album didn't even sell 3 million+ copies. Not to mention her tour numbers are nothing to run home about. When compared to her peers, her success is lackluster. She doesn't even get the acclaim they do also.

Because people refuse to respect her here. A good chunk of her radio hits aren't critically acclaimed and she gets back-handed by having fun with what she does (even if that is shooting whipped cream out of a bra) and not taking it too seriously. Does she deserve the hate? No. Will she always get it here? Probably.
