'I Love Jennifer Lopez': Mariah Carey Dismisses Jennifer's American Idol Takeover

Mariah Carey is believed to have dismissed the claims once and for all that Jennifer Lopez was poised to replace her halfway through the season of American Idol.

Following the rumour - reported by The Hollywood Reporter - that Jennifer was going to make a return, Mariah kept schtum on the latest episode of American Idol on Wednesday night. However, according to the Press Association, Mariah has now spoken out.

The 'We Belong Together' star is believed to have commented: "I love Jennifer Lopez, and have even invited her and her children to my twins Monroe and Moroccan's second birthday party on April 30.

"I'm really hoping to see them and our mutual friend Benny (Medina)."

Reacting to the rumours, American Idol finalist Kree Harrison told E! News: "I don't want to see (Mariah) go nowhere, because I love her, you know", whilst her fellow hopeful Angie Miller simply said: "I say forget it."

Putting an end to the rumours that Jennifer Lopez was going to replace Mariah, a spokesperson for FOX told The Hollywood Reporter.

They said: "This is just another ridiculous Idol judge rumor, likely started by talks of Jennifer performing on the finale." Backing up the statement, producer of American Idol, Nigel Lythgoe commented:

"I have not been included in any conversation regarding replacing Mariah with Jen this season."

A rep for Mariah and a rep for American Idol has been approached for comment.
