Have you ever experienced/witnessed racism at school?
I was riding the bus home from school and these 2 seniors were sitting behind me and started talking about being apart of the KKK and constantly saying "n*****". I don't think they were racist, but then again idk if they were making jokes or being serious about putting KKK sheets on and things like that. It just wasn't funny and was borderline. It didn't affect me because I don't really care but I was more so disgusted considering I'm black and they were sitting RIGHT BEHIND ME saying those things. It really pissed me off to know people still talk and think that way so openly and in general.
So have you ever experienced or witnessed racism at school/on school grounds or in general?
I don't see how that's a joke who makes a joke like that?
When i went to HS here in Philly it was racially segregated among the students when i moved to VA it was integrated.
My school is mainly Hispanic, and I agree it wasn't funny, but that's how most kids here joke for whatever dumb reason. They just went too far if they were, and I was kinda scared sitting there hearing them speak that way.
I'm a brown Muslim and when I was in middle school (around 9/11) I got called Turban Head or sand people by a few people. And one of them dared to come up to me and asked me how come me and "my people" never taken any showers since our skin is brown.
I rarely see any racism. I live in a diverse area where you see many interracial couples. However, in my Sophmore year in high school there was a riot between the latinos and blacks

Though one of my old High school's mascots was the knight, and I heard it was chosen in part by the KKK
They should really change all public mascots/names that were chosen by the KKK. I heard they changed the name of Forrest Park which is a step in the right direction.
There was this skinhead guy in HS who me and others were kinda afraid of. He was so normal when he was a Freshman then by Senior Year he shaved his head and gained all this weight. I remember he was in my woodshop class, he got into an argument with this black guy and he dropped the N word. I thought all hell was going to break lose. We were so glad when he graduated lol.
