It was a joke-- starting with the no Kurt Loder reporting the pre-show controversy. Then, it escalated when Britney Spears performed, and all hell broke loose from there.
The MTV News preshow was better than the real thing, however, John Norris was his usual ****ing queerheaded self sporting ****** outfits and he is 47, not a mother****ing 18 year old ***. Norris is an idiot reporter, and he is on drugs, plus he needs to be shown the door. The good of the preshow was SuChin Pak, Tim Kash, and Kim Stolz's interviews.

I didn't think it was bad, but the Britney performance was just terrible. I liked most of the performances, it was only a few performances I found not so great. The best performances revived the show from being terrible to me. The performances I found amazing were:
Rihanna/Chris Brown
Common/Kanye West
Kanye West
Kanye West/T-Pain
Alicia Keys
Timbaland/Nelly Furtado/Justin Timberlake/Keri Hilson
Rihanna/Fall Out Boy
Yeah, it definitely was a disaster. The only thing that saved me from changing the channel after Britney's performance was waiting for the "real talents" (Rihanna, Keri Hilson, and Alicia Keys)
01.The Taking Away of Viewers Choice,Best Hip-Hop,Pop,and Rock Video.what did mtv do that?
02.The adding of "Monster Single Of The Year","Quadruple Threat Of The Year",and "Most Earth Shattering Callboration".wth.
03.The Show was VERY Messy & Looked like mtv threw it together at the last minute.
04.The Winners.i wasn't to crazy about Rihanna winning Video of the Year.or Fergie winning Female Artist of the Year.i think Fergie is VERY OVERRATED. Thats right i said it.Nelly Furtado should have won female artist of the year.yes i think fergie has some good songs like "Big Girls Don't Cry" and "Glamorous".The only ones i liked from her.
Fergies decent but NOT great.imo.what the big deal about her anyway? *pepares to be flamed for that*
05.The Parties at the Suites in Vegas.It felt like a celebrity party get together THAN The Actual VMAS.
06.No Flow with NO HOST AT ALL.(we need at host and good host too)
07.Sarah Silverman.i may not be the biggest britney fan but refering her kids as "mistakes".poor taste on sarahs part.
08.The Shorten of the VMAS to 2 hrs.i know award shows were 3 hours or longer in the past mtv but it felt they need to do this keep viewers tuned in.if they keep doing this way.Viewership will go down horribly.IMO.
09.The Short Performances.wth?i want to see the whole performance.The back and forth performances betweeen commericals got annoying.
10.While i think many people like the ending.i didn't.i thought "suprise" guest was going to be from mtvs past like prince or mj.but instead we got a medley of "The Way I Are"/"Do It"/"Lovestoned".wheres was chris martin.i thought he the suprise guest.
i like nelly furtado i thought her blonde hair was horrid.what was she thinking?i like her better as a brunette.i know it sounds shallow.but i like her brunette hair better.
notice i didn't say anything about Britney.it was more than the hype about Britney and her performance that killed the vmas.it was lots of other factors that left 2007 vmas that left a bad taste in my mouth.IMO.
p.s. Thank you JT for pleading to play MORE music videos.although i don't think that would ever happen.well at least in this lifetime anyway.but props for JT for doing it.
