In late March 2013, Carey stated that she "has more than enough songs" but "she's in the process of finishing things and mixing and all that". On April 9, 2013, Carey stated that the album is almost ready. On April 18, 2013; Carey stated that she is mixing the lead single from the album.
Album was supposed to be released in March, then was delayed to May, and then finally to July.....

Here is some of the things Jermaine Dupri said: I don't think any of the other songs are like "Triumphant." We have a couple of dance records - and no I don't mean EDM, I mean more for the clubs. I don't know if they have a "type." I usually do what I think people want. I can't really tell you what genre it would fit in....... I do know I did do a song with Mariah almost a year ago that y’all haven’t heard yet. I know if it gets on the radio, it’s going to blow up and go crazy. I can tell you that. I don’t know what she’s going to do with the song, but I tell her every day that the song is crazy.
Here is a couple of things Mariah said: I'm collaborating with a lot of my favorite people but the main thing is [that] I'm not trying to follow any particular trend, I want it to be well received. I want to stay true to myself and the music that I love and make the fans happy.
"It's about making sure I have tons of good music, because at the end of the day, that's the most important thing....There are alot more raw ballads than people might expect...there are also uptempo and signature-type songs that represent [my] different facets as an artist.....Wherever we go with this project, I've tried to keep the soul and heart in it.
Tour planned: In December 2012, Carey's current manager Randy Jackson announced that Carey is planning a world tour following the album's release
