Either me and the entirety of the world are blind/deaf, or ATRL Taylor stans are just being delusional as usual... I don't see how you cannot see it?! The rest of the world agrees with me.
The above was a 2 minute google search. Literally. It was too damn easy to find every review with Avril comparisons in it. So y'all can sit!
I remember when Taylor's first single from her red album was released, everyone was saying that it sounds like an Avril's rejected song. So lets not act like Taylor wasn't aiming at the pop rock sound which was done many years ago by Avril, but Taylor doesn't have Avril's universal appeal, so it didn't really work that well WW.
I remember in a promo release to european markets years ago (where country isn't exactly popular) by taylor's publicist as saying taylor had more in common with avril lavigne than country music... so it definitely sounded as if that was the direction her management wanted to market her as.

I think that's why her management pushed her to be more pop by hooking her up with max martin, as an attempt to make her more global to european and asian markets.
