MITCH WINEHOUSE: 'BEYONCE BRINGS NOTHING TO 'BACK TO BLACK' COVER' Amy's dad says she should 'pay for the privilege'
Mitch Winehouse has hit out at Beyonce's cover of Amy Winehouse's 'Back To Black', saying that she 'brings nothing' to it.
Beyonce recorded a cover of the track for Baz Lurhmann's upcoming film adaptation of the Great Gatsby, but Mitch is definitely not a fan - even saying that she should 'pay for the privilege' of covering an Amy Winehouse song.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Mitch said, "I don't think she brings anything to it. I wasn't asked for my permission if they could record it. They have got to pay for the privilege, which is what they are doing. I can't tell you how much it is but it's a lot of money."
A new snippet of Beyonce's version of the track - which she teamed up with Andre 3000 to record - has been released, but so far fans do not seem to be impressed.
Listen to the new snippet of 'Back To Black' below:
Fans are labelling the song a 'mess', and saying that Beyonce should have not covered the track.
One user wrote on YouTube, "They both BUTCHERED this flawless song. Poor Amy is rolling in her grave," with another user commenting, "I refuse to believe this is anywhere near finished."
The song features on the soundtrack of The Great Gatsby, alongside tracks from stars such as Lana Del Reyand Florence + the Machine.
This is like the 4th thread about Winehouse's dad and this track. His quotes are old. This article is trolling. Please let it go. You are embarrassing yourself.
Nobody can touch Amy's unique soulful voice.
Such a shame, the rest of the soundtrack is phenomenal though. Will be the only song I don't purchase off the sound track.
Back To Black is just one of those songs that no other artist can touch and do justice, just like all songs by Amy. Beyoncé did a good job considering, the cover isn't bad.
And.. yes Beyonce didn't bring much to this.. IN THE SNIPPET.
Again, people are judging Beyonce way too soon and for the silliest thing.
Why should her Dad be asked to record this? Amy didn't ask him to record it. And to bring up the money about is so classless. We get it. It's a big song. We could have guessed it'd be pricey to get the rights to it.
Y'all are so predictable. No one cares what her degernate father has to say. He hasn't even heard the whole song and from what I've heard of the snippet, her vocals are flawless. He's getting the press he wanted though and so is the soundtrack.
I can't say because I haven't heard the full thing, but judging on the beat and the way she's started to sing, it seems she's going for a cold atmosphere. She's not trying to redo the original verbatim.
